Inspired by his father's passion for photography, at a young age Rob developed an acute understanding of action, movement, composition and storytelling as it relates to the lens. Over the course of his career Rob has honed his skills for dramatic direction, multi-camera coverage and crew management to become a respected director in the television and film world.

Rob holds a degree in Film Studies from The New School / Parson's School of Design in New York City. Rob has an extremely diverse portfolio, steadily racking up credits in many different genres; Notably, he developed a new look and style for MTV by directing the original series Taking the Stage. (A show which follows the lives of students at a performing arts school in Cincinnati.) This new "reality musical" genre has gained critical acclaim from publications such as The Los Angeles Times and The New York Post.

Other Director credits include episodes of The Hills for MTV, two seasons of the critically acclaimed MTV series Laguna Beach The Real O.C. and Paradise City for the E!. Laguna Beach and The Hills – both highly rated - gained critical acclaim from publications such as The New York Times and Rolling Stone for the unique style and scene coverage developed by Rob Bruce and Hisham Abed. The result is a new genre known as "docu-soap" production or "produced reality".
